Hey Guys, my name is Roman, Im 16 and currently living abroad, this year I have finished my IGCSE's and chose to study edexcel international a level mathematics and further mathematics, and tbh Im a little confused as to how the a level maths curriculum works; what units does the course consists of? what exams do I have to sit and when? and basically all relevant information will be appreciated. Im asking this as I couldn't find any relevant information online. Thank you soo much in advance

Hi Roman, we are glad to have you on OnlyPhysics. Feel free to ask any other questions that you may have.
The course is similar to other A-Level qualifications (such as the one in the UK) in the sense that the course is split up into many different units - 14 in total. They are:
P1-4 : Pure Mathematics 1-4
M1-3: Mechanics 1-3
S1-3: Statistics 1-3
D1: Decision Mathematics 1
Unit FP1-FP3: Further Pure 1-3
Each qualification, though, consists of 6 units (12 in total for further maths and maths).
To obtain an A-Level in maths (not Further) you MUST sit P1-P4. Then you can choose between the following:
M1 and S1 or
M1 and D1 or
M1 and M2 or
S1 and D1 or
S1 and S2
For Further Maths, you must do unit FP1 and then must do one between either FP2 or FP3. Afterwards, you can select 4 Further units from:
FP2, FP3, M1, M2, M3, S1, S2, S3, D1.
Each unit is equally weighted for your final qualification.
In terms of exam dates, I will explain to Jen ‘First Assessment Dates’. 2019 is the first year of the course (so Year 12) and 2020 is the second year of the course (Year 13):
P1 - Jan 2019
P2 - June 2019
P3 - Jan 2020
P4 - June 2020
FP1 - June 2019
FP2 - June 2020
FP3 - June 2020
M1 - June 2019
M2 - June 2020
M3 - June 2020
S1 - June 2019
S2 - June 2020
S3 - June 2020
D1 - June 2019
Hope this helped. Feel free to ask any other questions :).
Hi @Deathless Gamer X,
That is great to hear! Apologies for my slow response, we have been very busy on OnlyPhysics and have some exciting new content coming out over the next few weeks.
In terms of the question banks, there are two websites that I would recommend.
Firstly, there is Physics&Maths Tutor. I have included a link below to the Maths Papers that you would find interesting (I would recommend starting at C1 as this is the first Pure maths unit and working your way through):
https://www.physicsandmathstutor.com/a-level-maths-papers/
Another resource contains questions that are more unique and challenging. I would recommend these as extension questions:
https://www.physicsandmathstutor.com/a-level-maths-papers/
Both websites have loads of past papers. Pick questions out of there that look interesting and have a go!
I hope that the AITutor website provides useful and that you can use our coupon to get a discount for the premium package. Let us know, however, if you don't find it useful and we will try to find something else :).
Also, please do let us know if you need any help - we are always here for you. We can provide explanations to any maths problems and can develop any resources that you need (based on what you are learning) for free.
Please do let us know! :)
Thank you Hassan Bajwa, this is exactly what I was looking for!
I will check them out right away
Yes, this really helps, thank you!
