How do I use flash cards effectively and in general what are they. I have some physics, bio, Chem and maths flash cards that I bought but I have no idea on how to use them.
Flash cards are essentially little pieces of card (normally just a bit bigger than a credit card) that you can use to revise and test yourself.
Sometimes a flash card contains the most important points on a topic.
On one side of the flash card is normally a question, such as 'Name the Four Main Type of Energy Stores'. When you see this question, you must name the four main type of energy stores aloud. You can then turn the card over and read through the information on the card to see whether you really did name the four energy stores correctly. If you did, well done, you have remembered the content. If not, you can then reread the information and try to remember the correct answers. Does this make sense?
Flash cards are great ways to learn and test yourself on the knowledge. I would recommend carrying a few around with you at all times and reading them through when you have some spare time, such as when you are on a bus or train for example.
Don't, however, rely too much on flash cards as they don't contain all the knowledge that you need - only the main bits. Make sure you are writing your own notes as well.
Hope this helps, let me know if you have any more questions.
