Hey @EM, It is great to hear from you again. I have read the entire article, word for word several times, and honestly it is very vague. All that can really be inferred from the text is that they are looking into reducing the content required for you to learn in GCSE English Literature, as well as a few other subjects. However, this is not guaranteed nor is the delaying of GCSEs also. What is guaranteed is that everyone will be tested on a Shakespeare play (Romeo and Juliet in your case). Your school will also choose two texts out of the following three genres: Poetry, 19th Century Novel, Post 1914 British Fiction. When I did GCSE English Literature, I learned Macbeth (Shakespeare), An Inspector Calls (Post-1914 British Fiction) and Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde (19th Century Novel). Also, I learned the cluster of poems on War&Peace, I believe. So, I am assuming that you may not be tested on your poetry or another text, for example. Essentially, I learned four texts when I sat my GCSE, you may only need to learn three. BUT, let me stress, NOTHING IS GUARANTEED. Just keep on revising and learning as per normal so that you are prepared for anything that the exam boards decide. It may be worthwhile to ask your teachers about which topics they may decide to not teach next year, if one can be scrapped. Hope this helps! :)
