A, B and C are three points lying in that order on a straight line. A body is projected from B towards A with a speed of 3 m/s. The body experiences an acceleration of 1 m/s towards C. If BC = 20m, find the time taken to reach C and the distance the body has traveled from the moment of projection till it reaches C.

Hey there,
This question lies at the intersection of maths and physics and the answer is within the use of SUVAT (I believe Sriram has used this in one of his answers before). I won't delve too deeply into SUVAT and what it is - if you want us to produce a blog post explaining it, then feel free to ask.
We can use the SUVAT equations and the vector nature of acceleration/velocity to answer this question. Have a look at my workings below. The final answer is 10 seconds for the time taken and 29 metres for the total distance travelled. Note that s refers to displacement and is thus distance travelled in a given direction.
Let me know if you have any questions about my working. Nice to see you on the site again.
Yeah guys. I managed to figure it out a few moments after I sent it.
Thanks anyways. Always great to get another perspective on things!
